As you might expect, the club received plenty of backlash when they presented their new logo yesterday. The Old Lady faithful were unhappy & took to social media to let their feelings be known. Nobody likes change, especially when it comes to a change in history. Juventus have completely scrapped the idea of having a crest in general. They have instead opted for a simple, minimilastic design to appeal to a younger generation.
Plenty of comments have come in the form of anger or disbelief. "You're ruining history" was a statement we saw making the rounds all over the internet and social world. At first, it comes as a shock to the system. Why would you change something so classic & close to the club? That oval-shaped crest that made the Bianconeri recognizable across the planet.
Statements from the club have made it clear they are going in a new direction. Maybe it is the direction football is going in and Juventus are just the first to do it. Modern, simplistic & minimal. Those three words can define the idea behind the new logo. The design is shaped in a J, but also resembles the Scudetto patch, which is awarded to Serie A champions.
Plenty of fans also thought the new logo wouldn't replace the crest, and that it was just a new logo for club merchandise. However, that is not the case. For fun, we photoshopped the new logo onto the home jersey for the 2016/17 season:
At first we weren't fans of the logo, either. Not even 24 hours later & it is starting to grow on us. It is a bold move and not one that everyone will love at first. We have a feeling it'll grow onto Juventus' oldest fans, too.
What do you guys think of the new Juventus logo?
